The World Wide Web.....

I spend a lot of my time online because..I get on facebook a lot so i can check up on how my friends are doing that i haven't talked to in a while or ones that i just seen but would like to talk to more. Then there are those times were i get online to get on espn.com to check up on the latest sport stories and scores and make sure the Yankees are still playing good. I know i could look on tv and find the scores but i find it a lot easier to find what team and scores you are looking for because you dont have to wait for the little scroll bar on the tv to change to the sport you like. When on the internet you can just click on the link to the sport you want to look at and ZAP!! your there. Another reason i get on the internet a lot is for school. I seems like sometime during the school day im on the internet either doing something productive like school work such as writing a 970+ word essay about smoking or just goofing around on there such as playing game or watching funny videos on youtube, but either way im on a lot during school. Well wether being on at school or at home i enjoy being on the World Wide Web. Its only just a click away

What childhood lesson has always stuck with you?

A childhood lesson has that has always stuck with me is never give up. Even though you hear this saying throughout your life there was one time during life when this lesson had made a big impact in my life. In 8th grade I was a chubby little kid and it was my first year playing soccer for apollo. I made it through that preseason and season but man was I exhausted and I did not think i could play another season and do that again. We won only won game that season, so I was not very happy about that and I wasn't really having fun anymore. So when our coach came to my middle school and called anyone who wanted to play soccer the following year to the office to get some information about it....I didnt go. I did this because I thought I didn't want to play anymore and to want to go through the conditioning again and lose almost every game again. But a week after the soccer meeting I "personaly was called up to the office. I didn't know who it could be or for what reason, but when I got to the front there I saw my coach and one of the guidence teachers. They asked why I didnt want to play anymore and they told me that you can only do this once in your life. They said if i gave up now there was no way I could get back into it, they said I shouldn't give up and keep working hard and it will all pay off in the end. I started to tear up, I was a cry baby back then, but I said ok and I said I guess i could give it another try. So here I am now a senior still playing soccer and having a great time doing it. We have a great chance to win district and even region as long as we never give up!

Instrument and Tool:
The definition of a tool is an implement, especially one held in the hand, as a hammer, saw, or file, for performing or facilitating mechanical operations. When the definition of an instrument is a mechanical tool or implement, especially one used for delicate or precision work. So they are both implements but the instrument is used for more precise work such as surgical operations, but the tool is used for more mechanical operations. A time you would use a tool is when you are building a house you might use a hammer or saw. A time someone would use an instrument is when you are at the dentist and they clean our teeth with the metal pick instrument and also the small mirror insturment.

A Time I Persuaded Someone

A time I persuaded someone to do something was when I convinced some of my friends to go to my soccer game. Some techniques I used to persuade them to go was by telling them it was free to get in. This was because it was just a scrimmage game. Another technique that i used was that I told them I would be starting and playing a lot, so if they went I wouldn't be sitting on the bench the whole time. Also I told them that I would score for them if they showed up, which I did score...twice! Another technique I used was saying that if they went it would make me pretty excited and happy, and how could anyone say no to that. One other technique that I used was saying that there was a lot of other people going, it would be as if they would be the only ones there. It seems like my techniques worked because after the game they all said they had a great time and they thought the game was great. Some of them even said they would come back and see more games!!

Spring Break 2K11

For Spring break this year I went to Pensacola Beach Florida with some of my aunts, uncles, and cousins. We went to Pensacola because two of my cousins play on the catholic softball team and their team goes down to Florida every year so this is where they were playing this year. We left Friday morning at about 9 o'clock and we stopped in Columbia Tennessee for some softball games which was soooooo cold and i was so happy when we finally arrived at our hotel in Florida. We did a lot of fun things down there such as playing mini golf, laying out on the beach, playing football and ultimate Frisbee, going boo-gee boarding, getting up really early to go running on the beach then when im done writing happy birthday for my aunt and cousin in the sand before they wake up, going to fort pickens, going 90 mph in a 2010 camero,

The Lefty-Mobile

Last Thursday I Lefty Tyler Jordan Calhoun was given a car of my own and it is a piece of art. My car is a 1999 Nissan Altima. Even though it is 12 years old and had nearly 140,000 miles on it this bad boy still purrs like a kitten. It has a sleek gray paint job that makes people break their necks as the take a second look at my car because it is so amazing they can barley take their eyes off of it. As for the interior its very clean and next to flawless with cloth seats, a great radio, air conditioning is still running like new, there is a wood outline around the radio and air condition button station, there is automatic windows. and two great cup holders ( i mean who doesn't love a couple cup holders. The only thing messed up is the mirror on the visor is kinda messed up but not to bad. This is a huge upgrade from the last car i drove to and from school must of the time which was my dads truck (explained in a previous blog). But this car should get me through the rest of high school and college and when its time to get another one im sure it will hard to get rid of ole reliable aka the lefty-mobile.

Relaxation

Relaxing is a big part in my life because I am a busy man. Being left handed is not an easy task and you stay pretty occupied pretty much all day so I need find a time to relax and just forget about everything. I have a job, I go to school, I play soccer, I have chores at home that always need to be done, so I stay busy pretty much everyday of the week and I don't really have that much of free time time...but when i do i use it wisely.

I get some free time usually around 8:30-9:00 until i go to bed which is around 11, and after a long day i usually just lay in bed at watch TV for a while until its time to hit the hay. But there is Those times were i want to relax but i don't really want to go to bed yet so i do one of three things. I either do some p90x plyometric workouts, getting on facebook and chat it up with some of my brochachos, or play some NBA live on xbox 360 because its an amazing game. And there are those times where i am completely exhausted from the day so i go lay down in bed and sleep so i can be ready for the next day.  Relaxing is great and everyone needs it so take some time out of your day to relax!!!!

Louisville got the number 4 seed!!

Tomorrow is the first day of the NCAA tournament and Louisville got a number 4 seed. I have a god feeling that they are going far into the tournament and i believe they can even go all the way. They play tomorrow against another Kentuckian team Morehead State. Morehead has the leading rebounder in the nation. But  he isnt scaring the cards because we are going to smack those eagles and send then back to their mommas'. After that game we will probably play Vanderbilt, then Kansas. Those are some pretty tough teams but as long as we are hitting the threes and playing the defense we can beat them and go far. So everyone needs to watch the game tomorrow and support the Louisville Cardinals as they play their first game on their journey to the championship game.

9-1-1 Emergency

Depending on what type of emergency i would probably call my mom first. Even though she usually tells me to call my dad when something happens I always call her first for some reason. Now if there was something really bad just happened like if my dad falls off our house or something like that (this has happened before) i would most likely call 911 because they could do something. I fortunately have not been a major emergency where i had to call 9-1-1. I think the only time i actually called 911 was on accident. The reason for this was because when i was 10 years old, the phone number at the house my family used to live in was 6911006, when i had to dial that number one time i guess i forgot the fist six and some how I called 911 instead of my phone number. I was expecting to hear my dads voice but i ended up hearing a woman's voice saying " 911 state your emergency " when i heard that i didn't really know what to do so i just hung up the phone. So that was the only time i have called 911, buut if some major emergency does occur i am sure i will called them first instead of my mom.

Watch out for TLC

The Intramural basketball season ended last night as the Monstars were crowned champs and TLC fell short is the final four. We lost to the Seniors citizens in a hard fought battle by 4 or 5 points. I'm not usually a man of excuses but they were playing a little dirty as a few of our players hit the floor due to their excessive roughness. But we are going to be better than ever next year because we have many key improvements that the team in going to gain during the long off season. One of those things would be Foxy says he will be able to dunk before next season. Gills says he is going to be buff and stuff....like thats going to happen....We are dropping our key player C**** from the team next year...i know you must be surprised he was a great player and he will do greater things for another team. I love you C****. And last but not least we are in the lengthy process of signing the free agent Wesley Purcell to the squad, all he has to do is sign the contract and he is a part of the TLC franchise. I know I know these are some great improvements but we are looking to win it all next year so watch out. We are TLC: TLC ( the legend continues)........

Victory!!!!

Last Saturday the highly anticipated match of ping pong between Matt Leonard and I "Lefty" went down at in his garage. The first match was very close til the final point but i pulled out the victory 22-20 I ( I think) I give props to Matt as he surprised me he could keep up with my crazy left handed spin. Then the next game wasnt quite as close as I beat Matt again 17-21 ( I think). He just couldn't handle me again. I guess all that training from that old lady helped. So hears a message too all who reads this blog, if you want to accept the lefty challenge and try to beat me (which is nearly impossible) just reply to this blog and its on!!!!

CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!!!!

I here accept the challenge of a game of ping-pong against Matt Leonard. He has recently challenged me about 45 minutes ago because of what i said on one of my latest post. He doesn't know what he is getting himself into, maybe he doesn't know that i am  left handed. Or maybe he he just wants a nice butt woo-pin at a nice game of table tennis, but what ever it is Matt i am ready!!!!! just tell me the time and place and I will be there to take you down!!! Just don't cry to much Matt when you see the rather of my sick back hand shots. I put so much curve on the ball it will break your ankles and you will be left in shock. You don't know what you have got yourself into.
This was my trainer Matt 20 time world table tennis champion ive learned everything i know from her so watch it!!!!!

      Volunteering

" Volunteers are not paid- not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless.

How do I feel about volunteering?  I think volunteering is a thing someone should do a few times throughout life, because you get to interact with other people and see new views about life. An example of volunteering i have been a part of is the 2010 mission trip to Swan Quarters North Carolina with  my youth group at First Presbyterian Church of Owensboro. During this trip we painted homes cleaned peoples yard and played games with kids that didn't really have anyone to play with or could talk to about things. This was a great experience because it made those people that we helped out very happy. I had a wonderful time because you get to spend time with your friends while doing this and at the same time you make new friend, i made a lot of new friends form Indianapolis and some that lived in Kentucky as well. This is a life changing experience because you get a view of how bad some people have it and how much they dont have compared to what we have. So if you ever have the chance you should volunteer!!!

      Game tonight!

Tonight we  (as in TLC which was explained in a previous blog) have another game tonight. Coming off a game that was a nail bitter til the finish we look to improve our record to 3-2 as we play the Try Hards. Yesterday we were kind of getting worried about the match up because our star player Luke luscious camp had to work. So we had to prepare to play without him. Luckily last night around 10 o'clock i received a message from Luke that said he could play!! This relieved a lot of stress and now TLC is pumped about the game and we are ready to bring the heat and hit the threes!!!! So everyone please come out and support us we need the fan support, it should be a great game. If you come out i will score 10 points just for you! the game is at 6 and is in the big gym we are the team with the big letters TLC on our black shirts! alright see you there.

      Super Bowl Sunday

In 6 days as you probably already know is Sunday, February 6th. But its not just some normal Sunday, its SUPER BOWL SUNDAY!!!! The day were you get to go to a friends house with a bunch of people, eat tons of food, cheer on your favorite team, watch a great half time show and watch hilarious commercials. This year the Super Bowl consist of two power house teams the Green Bay Packers and the Pittsburgh Steelers. I honestly hope that Green Bay wins because I would like to see Aaron Rodgers lift the Lombardi Trophy for the first time. But who ever wins I am still going to have a great time with my youth group at our Super Bowl party. The half time show this year is going to the BEPs also know as the Black Eyed Peas. They are one of my favorite bands because their music is amazing. My favorite thing about Superbowl Sunday has to be the food and hanging out with all my friends. I cant wait to see the classic commercials by Doritos, Pepsi, coca cola, etc. And some previews for the newest movies that are coming out soon.  Superbowl Sunday should be a national holiday because it brings people together to watch one game, and sometimes people watch it even if they are not a football fan, I at least think we should get out of school that day!!! ;)

      TLC

THE LUSCIOUS CREW......Consisting of 6 unique basketball stars

      Capt./ PF- Luke "Luscious" Camp
      C/PF- Zach "Gills" Gilles
      SF/G- Connor "Foxy" Hundley
      G- Andrew "A-Squared" Ash
      G- Connor "Con-Yay" Anderson
      G- Tyler "Lefty" Calhoun

The first game our season is the only blemish on our 2-1 record when we were matched up with the defending intramural basketball champions from last year ( with a few changes)  TOON SQUAD. I think they ended up beating us by like 20 points but we kept it close until about 5 minutes into the second have when the destroyed any chances for us to have a come back. But that is alright because since that game we are on a 2 game win streak trying to make that a 3 game win streak as we go about against another tough team the SOFA KINGS which is made up of a ton of guys that are very athletic and are great at basketball. But i think we have a great chance of winning this game because the past two games we have really been working as a team making good passes and playing great defense. We play these guys tomorrow at 6 o'clock in the little gym and we need all the fan support as we can get so come on out and support your favorite intramural basketball team TLC!!!

      Like Luke's

The Spanish class I am in has recently been assigned to make a commercial advertising a product of our choice. This assignment was assigned to help us use the subjunctive tense in real life situations. Our teacher said we have to get in groups of 3 to 4 people so my group is Graham Duncan, Luke Camp, Connor Hundley, and myself. The product we have chosen to advertise our shoes called " like Luke's" I cant tell you to much about the commercial because its not finished yet, but it will be uploaded to Youtube and Facebook in the near future and i sure you will get a kick out of it. Well i guess i can give you a few details about what all is going down in the commercial......the commercial involves a redhead, a lefty, an old man, a shoe salesman, and a tall guy. That all i can say but when you see it ( if you see it) you will be amazed. It was filmed earlier today but still has to go through some revising and getting all the tweaks out then it might be in the running for the best picture award. Hope you enjoy it and get your own "like luke's"!!!

      Snow Day January 27 2011

Yesterday Daviess County Public Schools were closed due snow and ice. So here is a recap of my snow day.... it all started around 6:00 a.m. that morning when i turned on my television and changed the channel to Channel 14 news and looked at the bottom of the screen to see if we by any chance were out of school today and after a couple minutes of waiting it said that we had no school today. Excited and tired i called Gabby Barber to let her know just encase she didn't, when she answered she said " i know we have no school" in a grumpy tone ( im guessing she was asleep) so i said alright bye and i went back to sleep. About 4 hours later i woke up ( 10 o'clock)   and turned the tv back on and watched the fresh prince of bel-air ft.Will Smith. As i was watching that show i received a text from Sarah Bowley that said "Sledding at my house". This sounded pretty fun to me so i decided that i wanted to go. So after i ate some cinnamon toast waffles and brushed my teeth i was about to ask my mom if I could go to sarah's house when.... she told me i had to do some chores so i did a couple loads of laundry and then i ask my mom if i could go and she said sure. So i took a shower got suited up for this cold adventure and headed to sarah's, well i had to go pick up gabby first, then we went to sarah's. It was fun sledding and hanging out with all my friends, even though i hurt my chest by running into a big piece of wood, but i still had a good time. I could only stay for a little over an hour because i had to go to work so when i was leaving and just backed out of sarah's long drive way i saw in front of me 10 kids with snow balls in their hands just waiting for me to drive by so they could hit me with them and they did, it kind of scared me b/c i was afraid that they might dent my moms car but it turned out alright. Then i headed to work and i didn't do really anything other than sort the white numbers that we put onto the shirts by size and numbers that took me a while though. After that i cleaned up the shop then headed out to go home. When i got home i was treated to some dinner which we ended up having brinner ( breakfast for dinner) but i really don't call it that i just made it up on the spot. After brinner i played some NBA Live 10 on my Xbox 360 then watched some tosh.o and finally i fell asleep ready for today!!

      Lefty vs. Redhead

Me and Connor have nearly every class together and have white day lunch together. So he often tries to make me take up his tray but i never do it unless we have one of our competitions. The competitions can be anything so here are the examples of the competitions that we do and who ever loses has to take up the other persons tray for the the set time.

      • Rock, Paper, Scissors
      • Heads or Tails ( which could be a coin, a Permit, or even a piece of cheese)
      • Paper ball shooting into trashcans
      • Gum wrapper ball shooting into cups or milk cartons
      • etc.
I win nearly everyone of these intense battles but Connor may sneak a win in every now and then ( more like once in a blue moon or when pigs fly). But even though i win most of the time i still enjoy it and we will probably keep doing these competitions til the end of the year.

      The Seattle Seahawks

They are going all the way this year. Yes yes it may seem hard to believe but I have a good feeling they can do it. They have already pulled an upset against the defending Super Bowl champions the New Orleans Saints. The Sea hawks won the NFC west division with a (7-9) record they are the first team ever to win their division with a sub 500 record. I believe there is something special with this Sea hawks team that will take them all the way to Dallas ( the place where the super bowl this year). They have an explosive running back Marshawn Lynch that had a huge run against the Saints late in the game...........erase all of that they lost last Saturday and now they are out of the playoffs :(
